Everyday educators, whether they are teachers, administrators, or board members, are striving to improve the services they offer. Teachers attend in-service training; principals meet with other administrators in their district, state, or even the nation; and board members travel to see what other districts are doing right. All with the intention of gleaning the best methods and practices for their own schools. Atlanta Schools are no exception.

Atlanta Schools have embraced many models of school reform, and have implemented them throughout the district, to serve individual areas as needed. Samples of these models are:

America’s Choice: This model enables all students to reach internationally benchmarked standards. Learning is focused on getting all students to standards, varying only the time and resources needed. Atlanta Schools teachers use prevention, early intervention and acceleration techniques, as needed.

Core Knowledge: This reform model provides Atlanta Schools students with a curriculum based on what every educated citizen should know and understand to function in an educated society.

Direct Instruction: Direct Instruction (DI) is a model for teaching reading in several Atlanta Schools that emphasizes well-developed and carefully planned lessons designed around small learning groups. Teaching tasks are clearly defined and prescribed. The philosophy is based on the theory that clear phonics instruction – eliminating misinterpretations – can greatly improve and accelerate learning.

International Baccalaureate: This Atlanta Schools program is in place to develop students who are critical and compassionate thinkers and who are informed participants in local and world affairs.

Making Middle Grades Work: This program is designed to give Atlanta Schools middle school students intensive attention to raise achievement through alignment of content and standards, high expectations, extra help and time, and engaging classroom practices.

Project GRAD: Targeted to Atlanta Schools high school students, this program helps raise achievement through family support, school discipline, college scholarship and emphasis on reading and math.

Talent Development: Atlanta Schools that are implementing this model are ones that have established a strong culture for learning, curricular innovations, advanced work, parent involvement and professional development.

Atlanta real estate homes and houses can be offered by wholesale, making them preferred by buyers.

For somebody who is looking for a fine place to settle, they can always consider Atlanta. Today, the place is not just intended for investors as private buyers can avail and move to Atlanta. Whether it is personal choice or they have to be there for an employment jobs there, the choices for ownership can be endless.

EMF (or ElectroMagnetic Field) is a broad term which includes electric fields generated by charged particles in motion, and radiated fields such as TV, radio, hair dryer, and microwaves. Electric fields are measured in units of volts per meter or V/m. Magnetic fields are measured in milli-Gauss or mG. The field is always strongest near the source and diminishes as you move away from the source. These energies have the ability to influence particles at great distances. For example, the radiation from a radio tower influences the atoms within a distant radio antenna, allowing it to pick up the signal. Despite the many wonderful conveniences of electrical technology, the effects of EMF on biological tissue remains the most controversial aspect of the EMF issue, with virtually all scientists agreeing that more research is necessary to determine safe or dangerous levels.

Research since the mid-1970s has provided extensive information on biological responses to power-frequency electric and magnetic fields. The Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF) Research and Public Information Dissemination (RAPID) Program was charged with the goal of determining if electric and magnetic fields associated with the generation, transmission, and use of electrical energy pose a risk to human health. The fact that 20 years of research have not answered that question is clear evidence that health effects of EMF are not obvious and that risk relationships, if risk is identified, are not simple. Because epidemiologic studies have raised concerns regarding the connection between certain serious human health effects and exposure to electric and magnetic fields, the program adopts the hypothesis that exposure to electric or magnetic fields under some conditions may lead to unacceptable risk to human health. The focus of the program is not only to test, as far as possible within the statutory time limits, that hypothesis for those serious health effects already identified, but to identify as far as possible the special conditions that lead to elevated risk and to recommend measures to manage risk.

Electromagnetic hypersensitivity (ES) is a physiological disorder characterized by symptoms directly brought on by exposure to electromagnetic fields. It produces neurological and allergic-type symptoms. Symptoms may include, but are not limited to, headache, eye irritation, dizziness, nausea, skin rash, facial swelling, weakness, fatigue, pain in joints and/or muscles, buzzing/ringing in ears, skin numbness, abdominal pressure and pain, breathing difficulty, and irregular heartbeat. Those affected persons may experience an abrupt onset of symptoms following exposure to a new EMF such as fields associated with a new computer or with new fluorescent lights, or a new home or work environment. Onset of ES has also reported following chemical exposure. A concerted effort to provide scientifically valid research on which to base decisions about EMF exposures is under way, and results are expected in the next several years. Meanwhile, some authorities recommend taking simple precautionary steps, such as the following:

Increase the distance between yourself and the EMF source sit at arms length from your computer terminal. Avoid unnecessary proximity to high EMF sources don’t let children play directly under power lines or on top of power transformers for underground lines.Reduce time spent in the field turn off your computer monitor and other electrical appliances when you arent using them. The Office of Technology Assessment of the Congress of the United States recommends a policy of prudent avoidance with respect to EMF. Prudent avoidance means to measure fields, determine the sources, and act to reduce exposure.

1. Detect EMFs in your home and work environment. It is good to know where the sources of EMF are in your everyday world and how strong these sources are. Is there wiring in the wall behind your bed that you dont even know about? Is the vaporizer emitting strong fields in the babys room? How much EMF are you and your family getting from the power lines in the street? Even hair dryers emit EMFs. Home inspectors often have meters to measure EMFs, or they can be purchased and shared with friends.

2. Diminish your exposure to the EMFs you find. Determine how far you must stay away from the EMF emitters in your home and work environment to achieve less than 2.5 mG of exposurethe microwave oven, the alarm clock, the computer, and so on. Rearrange your furniture (especially the beds, desks, and couches where you spend the most time) away from heaters, wiring, fluorescent lights, electric doorbells, and other EMF hot spots. Where practical, replace electric appliances with non-electric devices. Where practical, replace electric appliances with non-electric devices. Have an electrician correct faulty high EMF wiring and help you eliminate dangerous stray ground currents. Consult a qualified EMF engineer at 404 680-4578 if necessary. Contact Accurate Home Inspection Field Testing for a test reading in your home for 79.95 in your area.

3. Shield yourself. Use shielding devices on your computer screen and cellular phone. Add shielding to your household wiring, circuit box, and transformers.Electric fields in the home, on average, range from 0 to 10 volts per meter. They can be hundreds, thousands, or even millions of times weaker than those encountered outdoors near power lines. Electric fields directly beneath power lines may vary from a few volts per meter for some overhead distribution lines to several thousands of volts per meter for extra high voltage power lines. Electric fields from power lines rapidly become weaker with distance and can be greatly reduced by walls and roofs of buildings.

Magnetic fields are not blocked by most materials. Magnetic fields encountered in homes vary greatly. Magnetic fields rapidly become weaker with distance from the source.Magnetic fields close to electrical appliances are often much stronger than those from other sources, including magnetic fields directly under power lines. Appliance fields decrease in strength with distance more quickly than do power line fields.

You can tell by looking at a map of the state that Atlanta is the heart of Georgia, one of the most visited cities in the southern United States. Indeed, this metropolitan jewel beats to a rhythm blended with cultural diversity and historical enchantment. The name alone evokes a bygone era of gentility and grace, yet contemporary style and a growing appreciation for social interaction have made Atlanta an ideal vacation destination.

One of the jewels in all of the southern states would have to be the city of Atlanta. In recent years Atlanta has become on the hottest spots for new businesses and where people are moving to. It is also one of the most visited places in the south when people are vacationing. The reason for that is because of all the fun things to do and great places to see. Atlanta can keep up with the best of them when it comes to four star accommodations in hotels and restaurants available there. It is a top spot for conventions and business gatherings of all kinds. There is wonderful nightlife to be enjoyed by people of all different tastes.

Besides the pretty country sides that you can drive through in the out of the way places, there are all kinds of recreational activities that can be enjoyed. Not far from the big metropolis its self is the grand Stone Mountain. It is one of the largest solid granite rock formations in the entire world. It is totally climbable and people do it all the time. The view from the top is breathtaking and well worth the hike up.

If you enjoy parks to walk in then you can visit the famous Piedmont Park and adjacent to that is the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Gardens. If you enjoy beautiful architecture, you might want to tour the Georgia state capital building. If you enjoy a southern brand of worship, you could sit in on a service at The Ebenezer Baptist church where there has been three generations of the Martin Luther King family residing. You might also wish to visit the High Museum of art that exhibits the classic and the contemporary.

If you have kids that will be tagging along, there is no other water park in the south that can beat White Water Atlanta. Then there is the famous Grant Park zoo. It contains the largest variety of wildlife from the world over in the entire Southeast. If you love natural history and artifacts of all kinds, then you may want to visit Fernbank Science Center. This will be a fun, interesting, and educational place the kids will enjoy as well as you. It boasts a large planetarium where you can learn all about the stars and constellations.

The main idea behind the formulation of Real Estate Laws is the protection of public interest. This license law pertaining to real estate in Atlanta has been in place for a very long time, since 1926 to be exact. Some changes were effected in the law in 1999. The headquarters of the Georgia Real Estate Commission is in Atlanta.

People do not step into the property market with ready cash in hand. Most home buyers need to borrow money in order to purchase their home. Even people who have enough assets to liquidise and finance a new home go in for financing deals as in the long run the returns on the money are better as real estate appreciates pretty fast. At times tax relief is a main reason for going in for a mortgage. The home loan taken by property buyers is called a “mortgage.” Generally, a mortgage is a loan of money to the home owner secured by a “lien” on the real estate. The law provides for issues like non payment of mortgages, foreclosure and the like.

Rules regarding the fine details of mortgage deals are laid down specifically by law. There are basically three types of mortgage options. A fixed rate mortgage carries an interest rate that remains fixed throughout the term of the mortgage. The second option is the adjustable rate mortgage that carries an initial fixed rate of interest. And after a fixed time interval the rate of interest reflects market trends. The third option is a balloon mortgage under which after a fixed monthly payment for a fixed time period the balance becomes payable all at once. Generally those who do not qualify for the first two types of mortgages opt for this one. And when the fixed time period is over they go in for refinancing the mortgage. Another option available is referred to as the home equity loan. Under this a floating rate of interest over a period of time is applicable.

Direct lenders such as banks and other financial institutions offer loans. The applicant’s ability to pay back the loan is assessed and once all formalities are completed the loan comes through. Getting the best interest rates will however need some homework as rates vary from bank to bank and region to region
